The Past

A once insolent blasphemer and a violent man
Strung together under inspiration three words
And with ease began a new sentence
“Forgetting the past …”
Fluent words which flow so freely
In a sentence
Are impeded off the page
Hampered and hindered by a harrowed heart
A product of voices and choices
Hooks that hold however have to yield
In time their greed and gluttony
For tomorrow will soon become today
And be remembered only as yesterday
“Forgetting the past …”
Is where it begins
“And looking forward …”
Is where it will end

(Philippians 3: 13)
