The Parlor of Prometheus - Part Two -

I kept up with the questions as Lucifer stared into a vacancy
which the echo of a star explosion could disappear into,
but I constantly felt Him paying attention to me despite the hallway of History,
do you really buy souls,
as though I failed at something He said, " No, not at all,
I tempt souls to continue returning to my home;
I provide an oasis for those grown melancholic with endless peace & pleasure,"
what do you mean, " I give adventure to the ambitious,
I create chance for those despairing,
I sautee love for the starving lost,"
so you're a steward of sorts,
" Lets say I'm an undying inspiration,"

the Devil asked me, " What is it that you do for a living?",
I said, " I'm a cook",
" Ah " He said, " You're a chef;
my favorite type of food is Italian, so balanced.
Are you happy with your job?"
" I live by the understabding that our jobs do not define who we are,
we just determine the results of our jobs."

Satan responded, " My job is to keep souls coming back,
to maintain a tastey and affordable resturaunt. According to your terms then,
that responsibility doesn't determine who I am though."
" So who are you then?"
" I am living truth,
I'm magic in a volatile existence."
He asked again, " Are you happy,"
" Yes",
"Why " He said,
" Because I like who I am."
with a mellow confidence Lucifer replied,
" I am happy for the same reason, I like who I am."
We took breaths,
a nice attribute of Satan is that He is not tempermental,
it seemed as though nothing I asked would anger the man,
His presence has the gentle but massive power of a glacier,
" Your critics claim that you use people, or possess them,
is this true?"
" I motivate others so that they use their abilities for the most sensational ends,
I helped Julius Caeser become Imperator,
but I can't take full control over a person's spirit,
however I am capable of entering a mortal's mind
and influencing behavior,
I can be a music that delivers a certain rythem to the heart."
before I could forget I had asked what He was doing during
the rise of the Roman Empire,
" What wasn't I doing back then.
Around that era I invested a ton of energy in North America
fomenting war between two major Indian tribes,
one of which became the Iriqoui & the other simply disintegrated into many;
I was attempting to expedite that regions war instrument technologies,
came away with the long bow but not much more. "

Is there a difference between satan and lucifer? My experience is that the persona of each are charming, beguiling manipulators...just as this piece of literary genius describes ..

Some would definitely say yes, there is a difference Karen - Lucifer is an Angel, Satan, perhaps only an energy that pervades our exitence - I am elated by your kindness my friend - from one genius to another - J.A.B. %

Yes Laura, Satan's strangeness can be very insightful & giving - I realize that the style of this composition is a bit atypical for 'Poetry', however, aside from rhyme negation all of the fantastic hallmarks of beautiful literature/poetry are encompassed herein, thank Deity - J.A.B. %
