The Parable of the Barren Fig Tree -Luke 13: 6-9

Jesus here speaks of a fig tree
this tree was barren having no fruit
A man had planted it in his vineyard
but the problem was down at its root

Now the man wanted to cut it down
he wasn't willing to wait and see
just in case fruit would maybe come
but the vinedresser had hope for the tree

What was a year going to matter
if a year later it came to change
then leaving it proved very wise
if not you would look very strange

Jesus showed you don't know what's next
in your life that barren could come to life
God is looking for fruit to be born
for if not He'll need to use His knife

The purpose of sending His holy spirit
is to fill His elect with Jesus alone
removing their sin that Christ died to atone
then the spiritual fruit will blossom and grow

(The Parable of the Barren Fig Tree)
(And he told this parable: “A man had a fig tree planted in his vineyard, and he came seeking fruit on it and found none. And he said to the vinedresser, ‘Look, for three years now I have come seeking fruit on this fig tree, and I find none. Cut it down. Why should it use up the ground?’ And he answered him, ‘Sir, let it alone this year also until I dig around it and put on manure. Then if it should bear fruit next year, well and good; but if not, you can cut it down.’”)
Luke 13: 6-9 (ESV)
