The Painting On the Wall

"THE PAINTING ON THE WALL" today I walked down 19th street and saw a pillar with the remnants of a painting that was left from an unfinished concealment. the painting was of a man in a blue collared shirt. his hands held an object cut off by the end of the pillar itself and his eyes were to the sky with apprehension. I wondered why this portion of him was left. I wondered why I was standing in the middle of the street wondering about this man no one else seemed to care about. from far away he had nothing left. all seemed to be lost but then I realized something great. close up, he was holding on to what was left. he wasn't completely gone. just like him, a greater portion of me had been erased throughout the years. he had something left to give and from the crowd, I was fortunate to see it. that was all he needed. someone to see his worth and realize that anything is worth saving. even the parts that no longer had life. I knew then I was still in the fight. the man on the pillar was left for me to see. I had died inside with only my love to give. we stood alone among the world that afternoon and together, we held on to this crazy thing called existence. By: Chicano Eddie 9-23-2016
