The Pain Game

Why do people, want to cause
Other people pain
Where is the Love
That will break the chain

Someone says something
Then it's tit-for-tat
I've played this before
We all know the score
Now who's up at bat

I think it's time, for us to play
The self healing game
Before there's no one, left
Around to blame

One that's more thoughtful
And much less insane
Let's reach for the Sun
And help everyone
Come out of the rain

All we have, is this fleeting chance
To get this right
No time for jealousies
No time to fight

Don't say, that you're sorry
Don't seek to forgive
Just start here today
And throw it away
And learn how to live

What an aptly titled piece. The thing with the “Pain Game” is the constantly changing rules. It seems people can find so many ways to cause each other pain. This piece is as relevant as when you posted it in 2014. If I could give a 7 I would. Now back to 2019. Blessings Richard.

We've all played it Jerry, unfortunately again and again, against our better judgement ane even against our conscious will! We fall into the old patternsso easily !!! We need reminders like your poem to keep us on our toes! A lovely piece I enjoyed it immensely . . .

Dear Jerry, we all need to follow your ending. We need to reach out and love each other and treat everyone with respect, maybe we wouldn't have so many dysfunctional families and so on. Good write eve

Thanks Eve, That's one of the truths I have learned in my short time on this planet----if we can't bring ourselves to love everyone, at least respect them.
