THE ONLY WORD
I asked the wind the other day:
Where do you find the strength to blow?
and where do you originate…
please wind won’t you tell me…I’d really like to know.
“Love!” The wind whispered in my ears
“Nature’s love is what makes me soar.”
“Love.” She whispered again and again.
“Love is the answer you are looking for.”
I asked the trees:
“How is it you can stand so tall?
What is it that makes you grow?”
please trees won’t you tell me…I’d really like to know
“Love!” The trees whispered in my ears
“Nature’s love is what keeps me rooted to the forest floor.”
“Love.” They whispered again and again.
“Love is the answer you are looking for.”
I asked the ocean:
“What is it that makes your water flow
and why does moonshine make you glow?”
please ocean won’t you tell me…I’d really like to know.
“Love!” The ocean whispered in my ears
“Nature’s love brings my waters to the shore.”
“Love.” She whispered again and again.
“Love is the answer you are looking for.”
I’ve asked all forms of nature similar questions…
Yet love is the only answer I’ve ever heard…
which makes me wonder if nature’s vocabulary
is limited to that one word!
But when you stop to think about it…
perhaps love is nature’s creed…
and she’s t trying with all her heart to tell us…
Love is the only word we’ll ever need.
