The Only Star For Me

The only star for me

Is a split binary, that cannot agree
Tearing me apart, within this melee
From the moment, of man’s creation
Forever open, to lame interpretation
Was I assembled, in a solar system
Inanimate, and lacking any wisdom
Brought to life, to fill a Gods quota
I haven’t got the faintest clue or iota
Heavy elements, and dust coalesced
Later on, wise men attempt to process

Spoiler alert! I’ll tell you what I know
Science and religion, puts on a show
Orbiting each other, huge quandaries
Crisscrossing our human boundaries
Why can’t gravity, bash them together
If not for worse, definitely for better
In a supernova blast, releasing sense
Knocking me off, that stubborn fence
Burning away, every bit of my doubt
Or is this failed star, never to find out

You know what astronomers call a Failed Star, a brown dwarf planet, much bigger than Jupiter, but just hadn’t got enough mass to ignite, the story of our lives, Lol, cheers David

Awesome metaphors! Science and religion unfold every day, science has been proved wrong over centuries. Look at an old encyclopedia and the foolish things they had to say. Much-needed balancers to guide us are right here in this place. I got stuck between closing borders and what would Jesus do. Any approach I take to evaluate life, seems to lead to more questions, then nowhere. What opens eyes are conversations with religious sects. They don’t know what they are talking about either. Fundamentalist or science? “Stop the world I want to get off” –Anthony Newly

Heya Anaya, We had a lot of religion beaten into us in the catholic schools here in Ireland, in fact most of our country was brainwashed in the last century, so that didn’t work for me, I do enjoy theoretical science that pushes the boundaries of our brain capacity, but like you said it all just leads to more questions, thank you for the heads up on Anthony newly, and the Hummer! cheers David

David, you're such a bright star because you're not afraid to break the mold. It's hard to pick a favorite sentence from your poems since they're all so good. To my ears, some of the lines are breathtakingly beautiful, while others are interesting and provoke several thoughts in my mind. Best wishes with the contest!

You could never be a fence sitter and you’re definitely not a failed star but you shine because you dare to question the why, the how and the when of existence.

Heya Jenna, I tend to call myself a fence sitter, because I’m caught between the people of faith and those with none, in the agnostic zone, I agree I certainly question the why, because I see unsatisfactory, unfulfilling holes, thank you so much for the vote of confidence in me, cheers David

It's hard to be a human being sometimes, David, really like this gem, you've written, so angry and fiery with a purpose. All the best. Harry

Really is Harry, so many unanswerable questions, its not that I don’t understand faith, moreover it leaves with unquantifiable niggling gaps, just like science does, cheers David
