The One To Blame
A long road this has been
Between you and me
Back and forth again and again
Thought we were meant to be
Sure there wasn't anything we couldn't get thru
We'd been thru hell, but our love held strong
Finally found the courage to say I do
But that didn't even last a year long
Now it's all coming to end
And I'm trying to wrap my head and heart around it all
Realizing I can't even be your friend
Fighting the urge to call
Knowing this time things are different than they were in the past
And yes I know I'm mostly to blame
But for us this time is the last
Things won't ever be the same
You've finally had all you can take
And I guess deep down I knew this day would come
The hurt I'm feeling you think is fake
Starting to feel the way you have for so long, but only some
Can't believe you got thru four years of this
I couldn't have done it if I'd tried
Realizing just how much I caused myself to miss
In writing this I even cried
Letting all the hateful things you said replay
Guess in a way I deserved that much
Trying not to let it all get to me today
Thinking back to your smile and touch
All those things at one point we once shared
Isn't the easiest thing for me to do
I've pushed you to the point you no longer cared
And after everything I put you thru
Turns out I was the one who lost it all
Now in this place and in this time
Into your memories and thoughts of you I fall
Writing just one more rhyme
Wishing these thoughts would go away
But instead they stay with me
Wondering what it might've been like if I could go back
And make all my wrongs right
But I'll just add this one to the pack
Hoping I can find a way to sleep thru the night
Without these thoughts keeping me awake
Cuz I know there's no way to change things now
My writing, these thoughts and feelings....something I just can't fake
Even if I knew how
My feelings for you
As complicated as they may be
I know this is something I have to do
And there's no one to blame but me
But you'll forever have a place in my heart
I guess that I really already knew
No matter how long we're apart
I will always have a love for you!!!
