THE NIGHT SHE DID NOT COME
It felt like forever
As I drifted off to sleep in peace
Like a baby after a meal
Content and free, with myself at ease.
The night she did not come
Was the best I'd had in years
No need to downplay my fears
No pressure to ensure her climax.
Married to a mermaid in my youth
My relatives made me almost believe
She was the reason for me to breathe
For every happening, she was the relief.
But I knew I had to face my fears
To break the chains that bound me for years.
I think I killed her the last night she came
Liberated from the monster, no longer her game.
