The Night Drinks Us In
The city’s streaming lights are
incandescent veins,
you and I a runaway fizz of champagne.
From gilded parlor to speakeasy
we carom,
giddy bubbles out to carbonate the still night.
And the city is now sparkling,
intoxicating as new love.
