The Night
(Re, old poems)
Hazed-
the night;
the towers
sheltered in mist
river flows silent under the stone bridge.
Heavenly quiet before dawn, the earth
is resting in
a peaceful
slumber
deep.
Calm
so deep,
in a hush
water ripples;
a boat rocks gently, the bo'sun asleep.
Covered in white silk, the town sleeps in the
faint glimmer of
yellow lamps
in the
street.
