The Next Best Thing To Heaven

This is the kind of life I want to lead; calm and apart from civilization. The rat race of the city I don’t need. I’ll take this rustic part of our nation. Let me travel the land on horseback. We can ford a cool, flowing mountain stream. This is the land I love called “The Outback”; the next best thing to heaven it would seem.

Very good poem, Robert. I always have wanted to go to "The Outback." I was a girl of the plains of Kansas, a girl of the Sandhills of Nebraska and a ranchers wife on the Rosebud Reservation of South Dakota. Now I am an old lady in the mountains of Casper, Wyoming. I agree with you fully the city is not for me. Thank you for you cute and so true comment on my poem about the beautyshop. God Bless, Cile
