The New Year Challenge

Now the New has said goodbye to the Old, I look forward to a world new, fresh and bold. Already I see the garden greets the new year, Old plants are refreshed, new shoots appear. New challenges now for me to take Hold of trowel, spade and rake. Remove debris the storms strewn around, Broken twigs, old fruit all litter the ground. Time to think of how I will paint this scene, What colorful plants to compliment the green., Oranges, Reds, Violets, Blues and Yellows All will show how our potted garden glows. Honeysuckle, Bougainvillea, both red and gold, When both are in bloom a sight to behold. The Almond blossom takes my breath away, Potted Oranges and lemons, a lovely bouquet. Marigold and fuchsia, Narcissus and Rose, All lovely scents to please the eye and nose. So this is the challenge this New Year has set. A garlanded garden that we will never forget. © Dave Timperley 03 January 2017
