Notes About The Poem

The Need for Weeds

Incarcerated desires,
worth kissing,
immaculately
Mary's darkened eyes
wrapped lassos of heat
statues tell the truth,
break the broth,
as your lust-ful eyes
spy her soft hands.....

Its best to be like me
and never leave the circle.
Red little cuts with virgin oil,
never create the hurdles.

I can't be shut down
when I never agreed
to the on switch
in the first place.

I don't like humanity.
I don't like being touched.
I wish I could be all alone
I'll walk the entire
way back home.

I love the affirmative established with the "on switch" and the wrap-up with absolute disdain of humanity....a mixture of Schopenhauer and Lord Byron....loved it

This is compellingly fragmented free verse: its abrupt shifts and dreamlike images enact the speaker’s anxiety and estrangement rather than merely describing them. The movement from sensual, surreal opening imagery into the stark declaration “I don’t like humanity” gives the poem a raw, unsettled emotional arc, while the short closing lines make the wish for solitude feel especially exposed and human.
