The Much-Maligned Blue Jay

The blue jay is a handsome bird
though that is oft the one nice word
you'll read about this robber of other
birds' nests ~ this handsome pest

You're a beacon of color on a bleak winter's day
despite what we read about 'amoral ways'
So here's to you, Mr. Jay, you liven up winter
even if your daily routine I can't print here

An enjoyable read, Gershon. A beautiful and very intelligent bird. "Much maligned" is right. I think they get a bad rap.

From what I have heard; The blue jays' a grumpy bird; But I prefer them to grackles; One of natures debacles! Sorry, Gershon - kinda got carried away! A great couplet nonetheless! Bob

Bob, I appreciate mightily your fine-tuned rhyme there: 'grackles' and 'debacles.' You've certainly removed the shackles. Now your sense of humor crackles... Are we having yet... So, what can we do with a Baltimore Oriole, eh! Cheers, gw

They are regal looking but certainly act more mischevious!
