The Mountains of Arkansas

The sun raises up over the ridge The sky shines a multitude of colors Pink with a tinge of purple That only lasts for a few precious moments Some mornings the clouds Come down from the sky into the fields Allowing a walk in the mist Who knew it was possible to walk in the clouds The fields are filled with nature Deer feed while tending their fawn Rabbits hop, coyotes hunt while the roadrunners race around Watch out for the bear, large cat or the razorback The birds are plentiful in their beauty The red of the cardinals, blue of the jays and yellow of the finches The sounds of the woodpecker and hummingbirds The soaring of the hawks, vultures, and eagles When it rains all run for cover The thunder roars, and makes the mountain shake Lighting strikes a tree with a mighty boom Fearing the tornado that can come from any place As the sky clears the sun shines down The water reflecting off the leaves The animals return refreshed The rainbow crosses the sky reminding us of God’s promise The roads twist and turn, up and down With drops off to the left and right Careful as dangers are abound Deer dash all around As the day turns to night it becomes total darkness The sounds of the tree frogs fill the air In the distance the scream of a small animal being caught as dinner in the forest At night the creatures crawl scorpions, spiders, and snakes Birds of prey hunt the fields On the mountain the circle of life takes place Survival of the fittest The sky is clear, and in the darkness Stars can be seen representing all the constellations The stars shoot across the sky and quickly die It is amazing the beauty of the sky
