The Most Tyrannical King: the Overthinking

Ever jumped from one thought to another faster than the speed of light or at the speed of your internet connections full might...

Within each thought grows like a tree, with the branches like intricate questions of what if...? why should I bother ? how ? when ?

In addition, these branches stem off, to bring more questions, more non-existent fears , more hypothetical problems, more questions, more non-existent fears, more hypothetical problems.....

So repetitive, each thought more scary as though all of them are being competitive , each thought making you more and more sensitive, in the fact, you think why just not do anything, since I have already got everything planned out and each way is worse than the last I might as well not bother

It’s as if you are your worst Chess grand-master, you can think ahead but each thoughts causes you to be stagnant, causes you to slack, as if to let the brain do the imagining while you sit back , each thought bringing you to the moment you are about to crack

The outcome, hesitation , you try different solutions to tame it like meditation and relaxation , its helps for a bit but then you remember you are blessed with this potent curse , oh how much its hurts, the pain so strong, it weighs done on you like you have a crown, your kingdom not yours, you are just weirdly the prisoner of this dictatorship, it really becomes a messed up relationship

However fear not for you the prisoner can escape, you can force this tyrant king to abdicate, for you shall overcome this my friend is your fate. you simply must open the gate, for the steel bars are your thoughts so crowded it fortifies your jail, you must walk out and not just imagine what could happen but try and find out.

Don't forget your cell mates ; dreams , hopes, ambitions, confidence
each one a friend you have known for a while but somehow avoid them, have you forgotten each one will stand by you to your lasting breath, they would fight by your side, each one you can talk to , you confide, for they will say you must try, you must, the battles at time will be a struggle, but in the end the war you will win, this overbearing curse will be lifted and you will have a grin

But my dear friend you must take the step and try , you must, this king is truly the worst, but you will win
Stop doubting , Start believing , take back what’s yours and you my dear friend shall surely be set free and your potential will be fruitful for you to see….

It's so easy to get overwhelmed by overthinking things. Great first poem! I hope the solution becomes clear to you as you attempt to overcome this! -Olivia

Rose, thanks for writing this. I wrote some like this --- not as detailed as your poem. Thx again. I offered "THINKING SKILLS" here, but no one signed up, LOL! U are on the right track: start by sitting quiet & just watch thoughts come & go

No worries, i'm glad you liked it and currently i'm doing roughly 10 minutes of meditation daily to help no just for my overthinking but to be more calmer with things. once again i'm happy you liked it and thanks for your comment.
