The moon remembers me in fragments~ a silhouette leaning against the railing of a childhood porch, a girl who believed night was a kind of portal. It keeps those moments in its pale archives, filed between craters and quiet centuries. Not the details~ not the clothes I wore or the name I answered to~ but the way my breath rose like a small offering toward its patient light. The moon remembers me by the shape of my longing, how it once fit perfectly into the curve of its glow. It recalls the nights I asked nothing of it, only listened to its silver hush as if it were speaking directly into my bones. It remembers the years I forgot to look up~ those blank pages in its ledger of me. It does not judge. It simply waits, the way celestial bodies do, knowing gravity is not the only force that brings someone back. And when I finally return to its quiet radiance, the moon tilts slightly, as if to say: I kept your place. I kept your light. I kept the version of you who never stopped believing in the sky. The moon remembers me~ not perfectly, not completely, but enough to make the darkness feel less alone.
