The Mocking Bird is the State bird for Arkansas,
Texas, Tennessee, Mississippi, and Florida
With keen discernment-
I, your Northern Mockingbird,
can recall you as a threat
from past encounters.
Known as 'many-tongued mimic'
I mock the songs of birds and frogs.
My songs are diverse
and long- some twenty seconds-
compiled from the sounds I hear.
Honored and tagged as
State bird for five U.S. States-
you'll find me in books and songs.
