The Mirror Is a Liar

Time to banish that old broken mirror It only shows sadness it gives you tears Its faulty reflection can paralyze Don't listen to its voice tell you sad lies Find a new mirror take a really close look You are in control take back what it took You may be surprised by all that you see Embrace this knowledge and see true beauty Mirrors of distortion tell you you're less Look beyond the makeup hair or that dress I hope your conclusion is now not the same Not seeing yourself would be such a shame Embrace yourself you are one of a kind Incomparable beauty, truly sublime See your reflection it's where to begin Once witnessed you can let love in The mirror is one dimensional Yet some are locked inside the glass Listening to a lifeless image That doesn't breathe or let them pass Inspired by "Mirror Lie to Me" Written by Eileen Ghali. Dedicated to all women in hopes that they learn to see how beautiful they really are.

Thank you Richard for your visit and comment on my poem. I think this is a very nice poem, and we should all get rid of those crappy mirrors that make us believe that we are not good enough, when we are more than good enough... I thoroughly enjoyed It :)

Now, Master of Words, how to tell the mirrors to go to bed and forget doing their job for some time? I have problems to really accept my ageing image; especially when my daughter shows her concern - and fears!- about what she is losing, day by day...I can smile "hush, little baby" but whenI'm alone, it really matters...Help!(^-^) Hugs, Hanitra

Hugs Back! You look pretty good to me. Women develop a beauty that trancends the calendar.

Well said Richard! The physical mirror shows only what the physical eye wants to see, it is the inner mirror that should guard our hearts. Wise words you've penned these.

Just about everyone sees flaws when they look in a mirror. We're always comparing ourselves with Hollywood's version of beauty. Beauty comes from within... have a great west coast day!

I love this positive message. We are often the most critical of our own image...no matter who we are, or what our look. (It's the inside that should really matter) :)
