The Mentor

We all have one in our lives, someone better than you, not much to be done about it, in shades of blue, where did he get the lines from, was it God-given? Maybe, to keep you in place but how the hell was he driven? Suddenly there's a change, now I'm better than him, I want it permanent, not just in the interim; however, I'm grateful for the role model, it's a doddle, no looking back, easy, no longer need the mollycoddle. Thank you Robert, for giving me all of the superlatives, now I know reasoning, aims and that justice lives; the best thing is the platform you gave for progression, and being greater than you is no longer an obsession. There's a smile forming when I see the students come, dig out my latin, they just go on and on, ad infinitum.
