The Melody In My Heart

The stomping is from my heart
I hear it’s footsteps pounding
It screams for my sweetheart
And I hear his shouting

For when our hearts link hands
They sing bittersweet melodies
And together they water plants
That grow into our destinies

When separated they ache
It demands my attention
And fills my mind during my wake
And builds up desperate tension

My heart takes a lot of maintenance
For when it’s on it’s own
It longs to close the distance
To the place it’s always known

And when our hearts are reunited
Their sweet hums fill the air
Even the sun is blinded
By the love we share

Oh, how beautiful, Sam. Your poem is expressed with wondrous imagery. I was especially moved by your last two lines for a superb finale. Congratulations on your placement in Brain's contest. Warmest wishes.. ~Susan
