The Malefactor

You came to me
One storm-swept night
And lifted me up to the skies.
From out of the torment
I had known
You showed me Paradise.
My sins were great,
Yet you forgave
Far greater sins than mine,
For you did bless
The ones who made
A mockery of your shrine.
I feared to die
For I had sinned
And knew how the ending must come,
I could not know
I’d be chosen to share
The cross with God’s own son.
