The Makes a Difference Delusion
"Perhaps the most common
mental illness," the professor was saying
"is the insistence that one has a special
thing to do and that one has
a unique duty to do it."
The professor was close to a
giggle when he said it and the class
was in oppen-mouthed sympathy.
And the poetry vanished from the world
in that moment when the
delicate instrument
Lila was carrying
dropped from her hands.
