The Lure of the Beast

Each night he stares up at the moon and watches as it peeks
Through many wispy, floating clouds as both play hide and seek
His human heart tormented by the demon in his soul
A part of him fights to break free, the other to be whole

Soon the man will be transformed and he will roam the night
No longer can he fight the urge, his will too weak to fight
Although he wants so desperately to quell the beast within
Temptation always dominates and he succumbs to sin

The lure to be a savage beast is burning in his blood
So strong are the emotions like a raging, river flood
The man has given in and now until the morning sun
The two parts run together, man and monster joined as one

Samia, My Wolf Man "contest," aka group work in progress, is not about a werewolf. It's about a man who adapts his life to co exist with a pack of wild wolves alone in the wilderness. Hence, The Wolf Man, but I'd enter this write of yours in my contest anyway. I can see where I could insert this to be part of the full final story. For example, Go here after reading your above magnificent piece again > http://www.poetrysoup.com/poems_poets/poem_detail.aspx?ID=384466

Hi SillyBilly, Thank you very much for clarifying. I should have read your instructions more carefully. I guess that's what happens when you have werewolves on the mind! LOL I will definitely place it in your contest. Thank you very much. :)

Hey tihis is the best poem in this winner circle. The meter is perfection. I read it aloud twice to see if I could find anything wrong and I couldn't. Congratulations on a great one. Love, Joyce
