The Lover

My eyes see tears through the rage of my past
They search for answers through the veil they cast
How many times, now, and I walked this road
How many times have these solemn tears flowed

Can you tell me why my heart still burns
Why this road winds me up in its twists and turns
Can you sell me lies to hide what's true
And give me a reason to forget you

You whispered sweet nothings into my ear
And told me that you'd always be here
Now I'm lying here in your web of lies
Trapped here like so many flies

Can you show me why you chose to leave me then
Will it be a reason for me not to believe again
Can you give me a reason not to love
Or will you make me fly away like a dove
