The Love of Winter
Winter Love
As we lay in each other’s arms in peaceful sleep,
my husband and I,
the warm walls keep out the embrace of the night
chilly of winter.
Whistling icy wind moves as the magnetism
of winter piles the spinning feathery snow over the ground.
We wake at dawn to orange and red streak clouds
hovering over the blue open heaven,
the sun’s out stretching arms,
and blinding glistening brightness
of snow-covered hills and ground,
and the crisp air.
So, inviting the feathery ice flakes for play.
Woolen sock hats and chattering teeth,
tingling fingertips in wet mittens,
slush inside snow boots.
The warm fireplace draws us near
its charm around its cozy gold ember
crackling fire, away from the cold
welcoming bathing warmth of comfort.
The warm fireplace draws us near
its charm around its cozy gold ember
crackling fire, welcoming bathing warmth of comfort,
away from the cold.
