Sorry to write such depressing things. I just have to process what is happening. The buds of Iris are charred black as if they're burned I've never seen this Spring brings these purple flowers Now, I am looking at death Heidi Sands 5/1/23

My daughter graduated w/ an Environmental Science major. Soon to work with the EPA. She is one of thousands needed to educate the world on the "Black Iris" dilemma. Do you remember when there was a shortage of bumble bees? Now they are back. The Monarch Butterfly population is dwindling, but like the Iris bud I feel will return. Rachel Carson would appreciate your poem, it is more important than dark.

That is wonderful about your daughter. There were major effects from the hazardous Ohio Train Derailment too. I wonder what she would think of all that? Actually , parts of NH are lacking honey bees right now. Someone in Michigan said there was a lack of all bees there. Thank you for the input :)

WINTER ROT (BOTRYTIS)..I found this on the internet and thought it might be the problem and you can look it up. Check with your extension agent from an agriculture college who should be familiar with diseases of the plants in your area. Thanks for sharing this with us. It is sad when a plant or group of plants we learn to love get ill and we lose them. Here I had something called Red Tip Fortina which got a blight or a fungus that could not be treated so I lost the whole hedge row of them. Sara

Thank you Sarah. I actually did reach out to a local college when some orange slime showed up on the bark of a tree suddenly overnight with the rain. Maybe I will send them this photo too. I appreciate your input :)

Yes it is. We are hit with toxins here. It was proven when it came in the snow after the burn, bringing on immediate symptoms with intolerable chemical odor. Now. The fall out is seen after snow melted. So that is the reason. Thank you :)
