The Long and Short of It

The long and short of it I find the poetry I read while running through this site Takes my breath away from me and makes me want to write But when I sit to do the same with thoughts I have to share I drop the pen and realize that I can not compare For here I find so many words from in your hearts so deep Emotions put down on the page within my mind do seep Amazing is a word I’ve used describing what I see Every day there’s something new right there in front of me I’d really like to name you all but please don’t take this wrong My list would have so many names and make this thing too long I know that none of you would stay and read this to the end So I’ll just say to everyone my thanks to you again And those of you now reading this, to each and every one You make this site a special place, each day with you is fun So now with that I’ll end this piece, I’m happy to report I managed to thank everyone while keeping this quite short Soup Poets…there are none better

...I could read you for days... you are THAT good a writer :-) I learn so much from reading poems here, I find my mind whirling with ideas and new words...it is a wonderful feeling to be inspired and though I don't write often, I still feel it...and that means everything to me.:-) Thank you. Wonderfully heartfelt Chris :-) a fave, 7+ blessings, lynn

Chris. : ) A crackling, jaunty good read. The Seeker is right - and in reality I can't see your pen dropped much at all, given the ever-smooth and ever-flowing nature of what you give us. To be dreadfully serious in a general way, I do think that reading the many poems here makes one a better writer, not that instant genius will then promptly strike, but that at the least a slow osmosis occurs - we see and pick up bits of the genius of others, the images of heart, the turns of phrase.

I couldn't agree with you more Doug. When I look back and some of my older work, it is so obvious that I have learned so much from all I come in contact with and read here and other places. I am still learning and I am sure, years from now it will be no different. Thanks so much for reading and commenting.

Chris: Seldom do I find a work I'd like to steal and post as my own. :o) This has said most beautifully what many of us feel and can't express. Thank you for sharing those thoughts and more with all of us on the soup. Keep them coming. oldbuck
