The Lonely Shepherd

The shepherd's lot will never be an easy one. From morning till night, his work will never be done. Helped by a well-trained German dog, he keeps the flock In good shape, so his physique must be like a rock. Distinctive of his staff that helps him catch some ewe, That had fallen in some trouble before it grew. Always alert for thieves around are abundant, And wild animals, he cannot act redundant. Lone shepherds are not many, but I know of one, He came from God on high and like Him there are none. He distributes pure graces to all who need them. Woe to those who ignore Him, your sorrow will stem.

It did immediately lead me to think of David in the Bible, Victor. Shepards are string and caring people. Many lessons can be learned from them and their work. Excellent rhyming in this one, my friend. I enjoyed reading it. Bill

The last stanza carries a lot of beauty.. the light of wisdom and the grace of Hope.. God is omnipresent and beautiful graceful souls are His servant.. they are devotees with a holy mission of Love.. Lucky are those who would walk the path trodden by them and follow their Light and inhale from their Hope and Faith.. An amazing insightful poetry and an immense pleasure to read you, Victor! Never thought the poem will turn to our great Shepherd. He is the one who keeps vigil over His sheep day and night. The Good shepherd will never desert a lamb limping behind. That's my consolation ! Beautifully written dear Victor
