The Living Boy

The air is gray and transparent And soon the sun’s rays will deploy, While all the ghosts in their graves-still sleeping Every soul silent- except for the boy. He walks among those who never breathe, Walks among souls who no longer explore, Souls who no longer change or grow, But the boy? He could grow quite a bit more. Their bodies can’t be seen to the naked eye, Living ears closed to the sound of their voices. The ghosts: Out of time, their options are gone, But the boy? He has a lifetime of choices. His heart, though he loved his graveyard, Longed to explore the whole world someday. To live a life, to breathe his breath Before finally meeting the Lady on the Grey.
