The Little Girl

I remember not too long ago
A young girl held your hand
And vowed to never let go.
Just a little girl with a pony tail and a
Grin
And you, you were her knight in shining armour
Fighting all those battles for
Her and of course you’d always win.
You captured her young heart from the start.
And she thought forever you would stay
Never more to part.
But never is a strange word,
That can change in the blink of an eye.
It took him away and left you with only
Tears in your eyes.
She watched you leave on that cold December day,
A young girl standing there in tears
Because you couldn’t stay.
Years had passed and the girl wonders
Even to this day,
Why the brave knight she loved
Never came back to stay.
I remember not so long ago
And yet it seems like yesterday.
And once again I’m that little girl
Who loved you so and cried when you
Went away.
