The Little Cafe On the Beach
There’s a little café on the beach,
With a vista of the Andaman Sea,
Where no rowdy children screech,
Nor hordes of adults disturb thee.
Plastic tables and wobbly chairs
Adorn this idyll of modest charm,
A refuge for sunbathers in pairs
Or lone day-dreamers seeking calm.
Bright-colored kites dot the sky
Tethered to surfers gliding true,
Like giant seagulls arcing high,
Borne by puppeteers skimming blue.
Eyelids fall behind sunglasses,
Breakfast lasts till lunch and beyond,
On the horizon a ship passes,
A book is closed beneath a yawn.
As light seeps from sea and sand,
The sunset brings a welcome boon
For an idler making tonight’s plan,
To conclude a lazy afternoon.
