The Light Within

Blue stars shivered in the distance The world around waited Each day didn’t seem, each day craved it’s beams No one could see, the woman The chains of her past, interlocking Tied her to a single moment in time Her mind shackled, she leaped towards a setting sun Squinting, grasping, and bound Lost in the twilight In an open, empty field Alone in a lonesome dynasty Amongst countless dreams Nothing seemed, as it should. Each day the sun would set Each day she tried to forget Until darkness would do as it could But to the controlling darkness surprise One day, Her strength came alive Reborn inside of her love And with interlocking chains in each hand That woman took a resounding stand And pulled her earth towards the setting sun With blue stars turning white Brightness overtaking an unending plight She looked around and laughed at the undone The fields came alive around her With colors like you’ve never seen She shined brighter than any setting sun No longer shackled, creating her own beams
