The Life of My Time

I saw a ghost tonight.
Something trying to see me.
A figure of dark and pale light
Asking to be free

I saw something tonight
That I cannot explain
Something of both fire and ice
Something untamed

I saw a ghost tonight
Asking me to leave
Demanding the life of my time
Assessing the soul inside me

I saw a ghost tonight
It made me follow its path
It moved straight through the brick wall
At where the mirror hangs over the hearth

I saw a ghost tonight
As it turned to see me
In the mirror it looked deep into my eyes.

The ghost I saw was me.

Powerful piece, well worked. Flows well and not too long Also poignant. Makes one think, question, which is a hallmark of a good poem. Regards David in NZ

Hi David, thank you very much. I think that the biggest demon we face in life is the one within us. Cheers.
