The Lie
Their Father gave them paradise,
But they still wanted more,
Now it is gone, and what is left,
Is nothing like before.
They saw the fruit upon the tree,
And thought they saw it glow,
They ate of it and then they knew,
That they were left with woe.
For Satan came just like a snake,
And offered them a dream,
And though he looked so innocent,
With evil he did gleam.
He said, "You will be like a god",
And that became his chant,
And then he cursed God's holy throne,
While acting so gallant.
Then he was cursed by God above,
And on his belly crawled,
Now every time we see a snake,
We often are appalled.
For we remember Satan's lie,
And how the lie has spread,
And how those who believe the lie,
Will see him when they're dead.
But God has crushed the serpent's head,
Through Jesus Christ, His Son,
Who shed His blood upon the cross,
And our salvation won.
Now Satan's lie has no effect,
On those who trust in God,
For they can see the ugly truth,
Through Satan's thin façade.
