Paula Goldsmith Poet Free verse

The Letter

The mail has just arrived,  
come quickly, my pocket holds his words.  
Read me his letter,  
I long to hear his voice.  
My loving dear,  
I miss you with each breath taken.  
My heart beats endlessly for you,  
I will be in your arms soon.  
Looks like he is coming home,  
but when?  
He does not say when,  
no date or time is given.  
It will be a welcomed surprise,  
I can't wait to see him.  
Now to write him back,  
I will tell him hello for you.
