The Legend of Contravention

Turn the cold shoulders
Turn the other cheek

I don’t care
Yeah, I don’t care
Anymore…
About anything, everyone and everything…
I’m engaging in encouraging sports in my mind’s eye
I am a confident guy, yet I act so damn shy
Reduced me to nothin’, but these dirty, old shorts I wear…
Anyone care to share their feelings at the dinner table?
Have you heard of the Fear Not fable? Turn off that silly cable…
Listen…
Don’t look at the television screen
Wonderin’ where you been…
Your mind, heart and soul is lost and never found
I am found on the ground
While you are above gravity without a flick of a sound

Yellow mellowness showers over me
Blue flesh lights dance around my eyes
Relieve me from this radiant reverie…
I can’t be free, I don’t want to be…baby…
I want to be free with or without you…
Wouldn’t you agree?

You watch me work
You watch me cook
You watch me take out the trash
You watch me, clean the room of filthy doom
You watch me…with vibrant, foolish and benevolent eyes…
You watch me – they tell of no lies…
Only silly, rebellious goodbyes can tell me something somehow…
You’re his – I can’t stand…the way you move makes me lift a brow
Now, I take a bow…
Wow…
You changed…haven’t you noticed me?
Probably not possibly…

I’m the legend of contravention
Not to mention
All this tension
Goin’ round this godforsaken place…
Just look me in the eyes…I don’t care how I look
Read me like your latest, most fascinating book
Or watch me like your Time Warner Cable channel…
We can never, ever be on the same channel…
Just…lend me your ears…
Tell me your childlike fears
Tell me something I don’t know
Tell me someone I should know
My mind glows to day and blows away
All misery in replay…
You are a tragedy in reverse…
I am a gift and a curse

I’m stronger than I realize,
I’m not alone
And I’m not a failure

Have faith and hope
That’s the only way I cope…with…situations…
Have love and the Holy Ghost fruits…
Stick with your ancient roots…not your feelings and human nature of irritations
Drive on your own lane of sane
While I take control on my own on my train of insane
Because we aren’t on the same bus
So, don’t fuss and cuss
Just. Listen.

I’m just the legend of contravention
I’m just an irrelevant, irrational intervention…
An over-confident bard…
Something to discard
Apparently, I have been wrong…
I do belong…even if it’s not in a song
I do belong…
Figures you’d leave…
While I’m here, wearing my grieve sleeve
I can’t let go…
Of you, you know?

Can't stand your drama
Gah
