The Learning Curve
New ones in the heat
a year long spin.
The lucky will return
to a warm embrace.
Others, a cold box
in the ground.
A grateful nation and a
three sided banner
in their hands.
One short week to educate.
Our job, to show them
to enlighten to the way of life.
How to survive, to stay alive.
The tarnished skin
of the time honored
educating the babes in khaki.
Our foe strikes with intense force.
They see the new as an Achille's heel,
fresh meat on the block.
Shock and awe runs its' course.
In this mission,
let us not fail.
