I’m hanging on to the skeletal branch with all my might Westerly winds blow but I won’t give in without a fight My skin once soft and smooth is now wizened and wrinkly Dark veins are so visible now, I’m all brown and crinkly Suddenly a huge gust of wind releases me HELPPPP! I’m F A L L I N G Silently I drift down to the ground, Now I am lying on my winter bed where I will curl up and die No longer the last lonely leaf on earth … For now I’m surrounded by my friends and family … Inspired by the lonely leaf poem by Sophiya Kamil 28th November 2015

Lovely personification and 'animation'! First you make us feel sorry for the last lonely leaf, but eventually we realize that being with 'family' is where it belongs. gl in the contest. hugs // paul

Poetry becomes art, the companion of every season and aspiring leaf to be glued to your paper. Well done!

I love it, and how clever of you to simulate with letters falling leaves! Thanks so much for enjoying my last poem about the poor turkey. Did you know Benjamin Franklin wanted that bird to be the symbol of these United States? And believe it or not, his second choice was – ready for this?– the rattlesnake! Wisely, Congress booed him down. /M

Your poem was fabulous Maurice - I'm so glad they went with the eagle and not the turkey! (We still have lots of turkeys in our politicians - I guess nothing changes lol) :-) hugs jan xx
