Author's Notes: My wife, Ingrid, with her passionate love of nature and its intrinsic beauty was the driving force behind our collaborated effort on this new Verse poem, "The Last Dance of the Autumn Leaves." As we now approach the coming of the winter season, both of us thought it was quite appropriate to present this particular poem. The shedding and movement of the autumn leaves each year during this time is truly a wondrous event of Mother Nature as the loose leaves seek out their final rest under their predestined "tree of all seasons." The beauty that Mother Nature shows us during the shift in seasons each year is truly magnificent. We hope you enjoy this read!! (Gary Bateman - November 4, 2018) (Verse)

The Last Dance of the Autumn Leaves
The summer goes
And autumn comes around the corner.
The green of the leaves
Turns now into yellow, orange, and red.
The first soft winds
Let them move
Into the melody of autumn
Until the first storm
Will take them
And lead them
Up and down
For their very last dance
Until they finally
Move down to earth
Where they find
Their final rest
Under their tree of all seasons.
