The Last Cake

What should I get her?
A diary, I know she loves to write.
No, that is what I got her last time.
A book, maybe poetry?
No, she already has so many.
What should I get her?
What do you give someone
who is so pure, so soft?
I should write her a poem,
That will cheer her up, I hope.
The unquenchable thirst for love,
support and respect that she has
building inside of her waiting
for that one text, that one call.
What should I get someone
who has everything yet nothing,
who sings the tune of warmth
and valour but her melancholy
heart is still healing from the pain
of the past. What should I get
someone who are all colours of the
rainbow and still just one. What then
should I get you Amma, on your
day that is fast approaching?
