The last 39 Minutes

Dear Life,
that betrayed the heart-shaped shells,
breathing colors of coral caves in slow cadence,
I’ve surfed through whirling waves of woeful rhymes,
to navigate tides of tormented tercets,
to cleanse my stained soul with briny bliss,
to illuminate the bruised blues with vibrant verses…
Yet, time revealed the fragrance of frosted farewells,
how moving minutes mourn~
the maleficent melodies of inhumane humankind,
while nurtured nature was played in sheer ignorance…

And as the last drop of ink spills~
upon the crystalline canvas of troubled turquoise,
I whisper to the moon-pearled skyline in soft rose dialects,
remember these words as my penultimate prose.
I was once inspired by the silver ring of lotus lunar;
now I struggle to carve my thoughts into coherent metaphors,
as halcyon hues of my muse refuse to collaborate and curate,
and surging currents of existence ripple with runes of rhinestone ruins,
reflecting the aching darkness of midnight musings,
for I’ve long been clothed in shades of dusk and dawn,
carrying pain in scented silence and solitude.

Tonight, I’ll forgive the sun that forgot my name,
rest my bleeding pen within the unconditional love of my beloved kin,
as I fashion a bronze casket of black daisies and withered promises,
to forever dream in lucid lilacs and lyrical lullabies.

Remember, I’ve waltzed through the weary wilderness,
danced beneath dwelling dreariness,
now preparing to set sail upon seraphic realms of eternal serenity,
where everlasting evergreens of Eden~
shall calm the chaos within my eclipsed psyche.
There the wind shall steer my silhouette to where she belongs,
a meadow of jasmines and dahlias,
emanating thirty-nine twists and turns of tuneless memories...

Whoa!! Interesting work for the contest. Reads like a good contender to me. Way to go. Thanks for sharing. My last 39 minutes wouldn't be that elaborate or at least I don't think so. Sara K

Hun, I can't put it in words how much I love this poem... Sigh, it truly tugged at my heart in so many ways and made me feel how your emotions must have weighed here, whilst being crafted in a tapestry of poetic hues.. Life is never fair.. And maybe I'm too in a similar kayak as you that's why I also posted a poem on the similar theme.. Ahh, we are always so connected! I feel absolutely sinking in the vulnerability that you've portrayed in many lines. And that's why, poetry enables us to breathe

I genuinely love everything about this write and can totally sense those "last 39 minutes" feelings here.. "heart-shaped shells, breathing colors of coral caves in slow cadence, ", "I whisper to the moon-pearled skyline in soft rose dialects", "Tonight, I’ll forgive the sun that forgot my name" That hits really hard! "There the wind shall steer my silhouette to where she belongs, a meadow of jasmines and dahlias, emanating thirty-nine twists and turns of tuneless memories... " My goodness.. Now this is what means 'poetry' to me and that end gave me goosebumps.. Beyond ethereal & soulful.. Sending you love & light always, this angelic star missed reading your words..

Only at the end of life do we truly understand what we have achieved and what more we can achieve. This poem uses great alliteration and metaphors. Well done.

I love this sis. The imagery in “the bronze casket of black daisies and withered promises” especially powerful, evoking a sense of sorrow and resignation. The line “forgive the sun that forgot my name” resonates deeply, expressing a poignant loneliness. The lyrical flow, particularly “halcyon hues of my muse refuse to collaborate,” beautifully captures the struggle of creative inspiration. Bravo

Your poetry is both ever lasting and evergreen. How can anyone truly understand the nature of the soul, only in its last revelation can we catch a glimpse of the life one has lived so intrusively, I love your signature breath of life, I,
