The Lantern
"The Lantern"
I am fully aware that the earth doesn't like
to be constantly cloaked by the day nor the night,
Which is why repositioning you is a must;
though I hope, little sphere, in my warmth you will trust.
With the sleight of my light I will whisk you away
to a comforting course where the night equals day,
And the people you house will have morning to reap,
and a plentiful portion of evening to sleep.
You will never eternally quiver in cold,
for my smile has a zealous congenial hold.
You will never eternally shrivel in heat,
for the moon will ensure that I make my retreat.
Is there anything else you would like me to do?
As a lantern of life,
I'm devoted to you.
