The Lake of the Regal

On a gentle flowing lake
Beneath the skies of spring
The waters of the lake are graced
By a bird so awe inspiring

Feathers of virgin white
Their plumage in regal show
So majestic in their stance
Upon the waters glow

This bird so proud and beautiful
So elegant in their display
Treasured royalty of nature
The swans on the lake that day

I live very near to a small lake where I see these beautiful birds land and take flight. Your poem captures this well, great write and joy to read. Constructive criticism, does a lake flow? Perhaps "Gentle mirrored lake" would give the same imagery? Looking forward to reading more of your work, Alan.

What a lovely vision. Everytime i read your poems James, i always imagine myself in the spender that is Scotland. Cristal clear air, the freshest water and the glorious mountain ranges! I think my trip to Inverness may have to be moved to a sooner date!

The majestic swans do look like they belong to the "royal family" of birds. Beautiful image, James, thanks for sharing and brightening our weekend! Love, Carolyn
