The Lady Suffers

The Lady Suffers

What of the slow falling of morning dew
rain that sets a cold shiver upon you
A sky that dances to yet mock anew
goodness and gentleness surely your due!

Can earth dare to ever this one reproach
promises of your sure sweetened approach
Pretty maiden of your innocent ways
sends joy into glorious summer days!

What of wind that so evilly blows
away all sacred words that you compose
Dares wickedly ruin your pretty hair
disrupt loving mood of my lady fair!

Nay, Nature careless , so very cruel
made up of harsh acts that so rashly rule!

this reminds me of a classic type sonnet with dramatic effect. I really enjoyed the part about the wind that blows away her sacred words she composes and tangles her hair. Very creative!

I once wrote so many poems like this(decades ago). Not always were they sonnets. Often they were well over 48 lines. I no longer care to write really long poems. I think shorter, more concise is better. A matter of personal taste. Thanks for commenting my friend..

Thanks Eileen, the Lady's beauty so matched that of Nature's that Nature responded with jealousy. When deeply in love no other beauty even comes close that of the Lady that the man truly adores!

Thanks for commenting. Nature displays its cruelness as proudly as it does its magnificent beauty!!

I think somewhere inside you is tucked a bard of old. Every line is wonderful and speaks of innocence and beauty colliding with nature's travails.

A beautiful sonnet, Robert. All of it is fair, but I love the second stanza most. :) Enjoyed reading so much.

A great pen Robert Life can be harsh and sometimes nature too. Yet nature is also tender when treated with respect hugs
