bougainvillea vine tendrils crept up balcony t’was our washing line! Inspired by but not for Contest 100% true story no poetic licence at all! Many years ago my parents had a villa in Spain, my sister and I would go and stay. We’d wash our smalls and swimming costumes and drape them on the balcony wall to dry. One windy day we discovered them adorning the Bougainvillea. It hadn’t escaped our neighbour Zac’s notice and from that day on it was known as ‘the knicker tree’ 3/23/19

My aim since day one on soup was to make people smile although the first poem I wrote when my hubby had cancer surgery was a deep one called 'splendid Isolation' I look back and know it is not a well written poem but I would never change a word as it was that poem which kick started me writing:-)I will always try and raise a smile if i can but I do write the odd serious poem from time to time:-) hugs jan xx

The story that goes with this poem is so funny and I can see why it inspired this amusing write. Entertaining as usual, Jan.

My bougainvillea has developed small buds and should show it's purple color in April. Yes, their vines can climb along anything within their reach.

lol Ann we didn't use it that much it was rented out in the holidays and in the end they caused so much damage it got sold. It was Zac our neighbour who called it the knicker tree and the name stuck lol:-) hugs jan xx
