The Kings of Destiny
Walking down the tarred road in haste
Beholding my watch that revealed the running time since I was late,
Disregarding my immediate world
And the activities around me that did hoard,
I had only one wish upon my head
To get to the bus stop as fast as I could,
So that I could catch the bus that steered me
To the college promptly,
For the fabric painting class awaited me
And I, with paint and brush, walked in urgency,
And then suddenly came across two young lads
With sticks they walked forward,
Too weird, too outlandish
For two simple men walking with sticks!
And they held each other’s hands
And strode through like unspoiled drunkards!
I overtook them, to quieten my confusion
And I stopped, speechless with miscalculation,
There, my world ceased to blankness
For these two men had another sphere too mysterious,
They were blind, their eyes concealed by the sunglasses
Their sticks that served as their greatest aids,
Each had their stick stretched to either directions
Prodding upon the road, detecting the dangers,
They walked on
For they had a life to live on,
Defeating me, overpowering the beings around
They advanced, resolute and self-assured,
Compliant to the challenge of being sightless,
Marched ahead, conquering the world with confidence….
