The key without a door
They gave us a key to a non existent door
The cage of oppression a mental war
But our screams for change are more powerful
The caged bird sings for freedom to bring
The dove locked up for the protest of peace
Voices of revolution whispered in the breeze
Refusing a verdict that makes death seem easy
The lack of existence would finally make it easy to breathe
Death would feel like a lullaby lulling us to sleep
Like a happily ever after, like a constant dream
Death isn't romantic - but more so tragic
Yet when the noise of the world consumes
The idea of silence soothes
And in a world where your stalked by hatred
Nothingness becomes a need so sacred
Like the oxygen we breathe, we just seek peace
A life where we get to live and not just survive
Shouldn't that be the meaning of life? -
A question with a complicated answer
In theory it's equality worldwide
In reality it's stature and the control -
Of who gets racial pride
If not you become a shadow in which you Forever hide
From the evil of white to innocence of those comparative to midnight
Why does silence become their only language
To communicate with discrimatory rhetoric
Against a race deemed lesser
The world become deaf to their tone
And so expect us to fight alone
Yet use us as a beacon of hope
When their limited privilege runs low
And then try to enter their abandoned home
Then finds it occupied by those who know the value of being loyal
A hard lesson leading to a feeling of imposter syndrome
