The Joy of the Lord
On first January, I walked into an old church
With a long and impressive history!
To behold it decorated in a fresh and new way
To welcome 2022; A new year
Filled with fresh opportunities and fortunes
A year to build our identity a new
Where we communicate faith filled words
And allow goodness and mercy
To permeate from every fiber of our being!
Although, the last few years
Have been full of tests and trials
And did put us on a survival mode
Yet, now, it is time to come out of
Our self-preservation and indifference
Because the future is here!
When we hear of wars and famine
As raging waves threaten
To pound and rock our boat with fury
Let us not put our trust on old buildings
But, trust in God for smooth sailing!
Since the Great I AM is in the boat with us
As I hear at a distance
The age-old parish priest sing
“The joy of the Lord is our strength”!
